Rumors of the next high-end Xiaomi, the Xiaomi 12, which no longer bears the Mi surname, are starting to resonate. It was leaked a month ago that it was expected to arrive in December, possibly in the hands of Snapdragon 895 under the arm, although little else is known. Now, Weibo’s popular Digital Chat Station filter gives us more details about its cameras.

According to this information, Xiaomi would put the brakes on megapixels (the Xiaomi Mi 11 has a main sensor of 108 megapixels), since the Xiaomi 12 would have a triple camera with 50 megapixels in its three sensors.

50 is the magic number

We still have a few months to meet the Xiaomi 12, but the trickle of rumors has already officially started. One of the first details of the terminal told us about its power, which, unsurprisingly, would incorporate the most powerful processor at the time of its launch. According to these rumors, the Xiaomi 12 would mount the successor to the Snapdragon 888 alongside the latest Qualcomm modem, the Snapdragon X65.

This processor bears the provisional name of Snapdragon 895, in theory manufactured by Samsung and with a lithography of 4 nanometers. Other than that, few leaks have so far been made to Xiaomi’s next high end which will undoubtedly be accompanied by additional versions such as Pro, Ultra and Lite. This is where Digital Chat Station comes in.

This leaker commented that Xiaomi is testing a triple camera where all its sensors are 50 megapixels. That is, a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 50-megapixel wide-angle and a 50-megapixel telephoto lens. That’s less resolution for the main sensor than compared to the previous generation, although there are more megapixels in total if we put the three lenses together (the Xiaomi Mi 11 has 108 + 12 + 5 MP lenses ).

It would be a readjustment of the practice of “more, better” which could have interesting repercussions on the photographic capacities of the next high-end range of Xiaomi, although it should be noted that the leaker ensures that Xiaomi is testing this configuration. As proof, there is always the possibility that the final result will be different between now and the official launch.

Little is known about Xiaomi 12, apart from its possible presentation date in December and the rumor that it includes a screen with an LPTO panel and a variable refresh rate up to 120 Hz. For the rest of the details, we will have to wait at least until the next leak.
