The constantly evolving WhatsApp Beta application, the version of which is updated almost every day, not only allows us to be among the first to enjoy its novelties, such as the 24 new emojis, but also through its code source, we discover its next novelties.

The latest two updates to WhatsApp Beta released yesterday (2.21.17.15) and today (2.21.17.16) launch an improvement for the preview of web links and anticipate that we will soon have more options to configure temporary messages. .

Overview of larger links

Since the launch of WhatsApp in late 2015, the link preview had received little change in those six years, which is being said soon, but that has started to change. In WhatsApp Beta, it has now started showing a larger preview of links.

Now instead of showing the thumbnail of the image small to the left of the link, it now shows the image above much larger. With this change, link images take on more importance in the conversation.

In the stable version of WhatsApp, it continues to show the links preview with the thumbnail in small like in the following screenshot:

WhatsApp prepares two new deadlines for temporary messages

Since the launch of WhatsApp at the end of last year, temporary messages are automatically deleted after seven days, but for a few months now we know that the company wants to improve this option with new deadlines.

So far it had been disclosed that WhatsApp wanted to allow us to select that messages self-destruct within 24 hours, but in the latest beta we know it is preparing another term: 90 days.

This way, in the future, WhatsApp could allow us to choose whether we want the temporary messages to be automatically deleted in 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days. We’ll be watching for future updates to see if these options finally make it to your email client.
