At the end of February, we heard from Office 2021. Microsoft’s office suite is preparing to catch up and make its leap to Windows and macOS systems. And it’s now, at the end of April, that they announce the commercial preview version of Microsoft Office Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC).
You can now download a development version for macOS and Windows which, while it surely contains a bug, helps us see what we can expect from the first big update to Office in a long time. Just think that in macOS the most recent version is Office 2019.
A glimpse of what lies ahead
The trial version for Windows and macOS of Office 2021 can now be downloaded from this link. An Office 2021 that initially stands out with support of at least five years and continues to be a more than valid option for those who switch to the subscription type and opt for a one-time purchase.
This version of Office LTSC includes functionality from previous Office, but also and simultaneously some of the enhancements already available in Microsoft 365 for business.
Office 2021 will be available later this year and this is the first taste of what we can expect when the final version releases. An Office 2021 which, along with performance improvements in Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, will offer an improved dark mode that they are already testing for Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the rest of the office suite.
Office LTSC Professional Plus 2021 Preview includes Access, Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, Skype for Business, Teams, and Word. Here are the Office 2021 trial versions that can be downloaded right now:
