U.S. Secretary of State “Leave China Responsible” Declared at Meeting with Former Uighur Detainees
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken held an online meeting on the 6th with a total of seven Muslim minority Uighurs and relatives who have been detained by Chinese authorities in China’s Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. The US administration has confirmed China’s “genocide” of Uighurs, and Mr. Blinken has stated that he will hold the Chinese government accountable.
According to the State Department, the meeting aims to “listen to stories of atrocities and internment in the autonomous region.”
At the meeting, Blinken said in a statement from the ministry that the Chinese government had humanitarian crimes against Uighurs and others and that it would work with allies and friends to stop genocide.
In response to these moves, China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin responded at a press conference on the 7th, saying, “The United States foolishly hides human rights but confuses Xinjiang, and the plan to deter China’s development does not go as planned.” ..
