The head of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization in Afghanistan has said that the Taliban regime has created a humanitarian crisis in the country, leaving more than 12 million people in starvation conditions. Mary Ellen McGarty, director of the World Food Program, said that amid the conflict in Afghanistan, the country is facing another devastating drought in the past three years and the coronavirus pandemic has had a severe impact on the social and economic situation. Drought has ruined 90 percent of the crop and took away the livelihood of thousands of people. Millions of people have been displaced by the Taliban insurgency. McGraw-Hill said Afghanistan needs 500 million as donations.
