Police arrested two men, including one from Manomet, in an alleged scheme to sell a stolen handgun, Monday afternoon.
Abel Parker, 28, of Manomet Avenue and Cody Anderson, 24, of Alewife Drive, were stopped on Alewife Drive by detectives who had been investigating the alleged theft of the gun from an unlocked car on Alewife Drive sometime over the weekend, according to Captain John Rogers. Police, he said, had learned Anderson might have the 9 millimeter semi-automatic pistol and that he was allegedly looking to sell it.
Parker and Anderson were allegedly found with the gun, Rogers said. They were both charged with carrying a firearm without a license, receiving stolen property over $250, possessing ammunition without an FID card, and conspiracy to illegally sell a firearm. Rogers did not know who the suspected buyer was.
Numerous cars were reported broken into on Alewife Drive, Sunday. Police are investigating whether the two were involved, Rogers said. The owner of the gun will be charged at a later date for improper storage of a handgun.
