The UN is extremely concerned about reports of mines in the Black Sea, UN Secretary General Stéphane Dujarric, spokesman for the UN Secretary General, said during a briefing.

He noted that the Bulgarian naval forces did not detect drifting mines in their section of the Black Sea, the operation to search for them was curtailed.

“We are monitoring these reports. Any mining of international sea lanes is of great concern,” Dujarric said.

He also noted that the placement of mines could have an impact on international shipping and travel.
