Sad news for heavy metal fans: after the big open air, the smaller replacement festival “Bullhead City” in Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein is also canceled due to the corona pandemic.

Wacken (dpa) – The smaller edition of the heavy metal festival scheduled for mid-September in Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein has been canceled. According to the organizers, the festival cannot take place on Monday due to the current crown developments in the Steinburg district.

“While we are really sad that we cannot celebrate a reunion with the Metalheads in September, we consider this decision to be the right one,” said festival co-founder Thomas Jensen.

“The Schenefeld office, as the competent regulatory authority, regrets the necessary cancellation of the town of Bullhead,” said office manager Andreas Faust. The focus is on the health of customers, employees and citizens. More recently, the Kiel state government gave the number of corona cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the Steinburg district over the past seven days at 64.1.

The organizers had planned the festival, initially scheduled for September 16-18, with 20,000 visitors per day. Appearances from Blind Guardian, Nightwish, Powerwolf, Doro and Hämatom, among others, were expected. According to previous information, more than 10,000 tickets had already been sold. Ticket buyers should now get their money back.

Previously, the traditional heavy metal festival with around 75,000 fans, as in 2020, had already been canceled due to the corona pandemic. The next big festival will take place August 4-6, 2022 – with Judas Priest, In Extremo and Limp Bizkit.
