An Evergreen Drive man was arrested on drunk driving charges after allegedly hitting a tree and evading police on Old Sandwich Road, late Wednesday night.
An officer responding to a disturbance on Tide View Path spotted Joshua Todisco, 19, allegedly speeding northbound on Old Sandwich Road, Captain John Rogers said. The officer, who was on Clark Road, reportedly saw Todisco hit the tree at the intersection of Old Sandwich and Beaver Dam Roads. Rather than stopping, Rogers said, he backed up and continued up the road and into the Pinehills.
The officer followed and finally stopped Todisco where, after a field test, he allegedly found Todisco was drunk, Rogers said. Todisco allegedly had a half-finished bottle of Budweiser, some nip bottles of vodka and an ounce of marijuana on him, Rogers added.
Todisco was charged with OUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle, failing to stop for police, failing to stop and person under 21 in possession of alcohol. He was also charged with a civil infection for the marijuana.
