Wreath making workshop at the Wildlands Trust

The Wildland Trust is hosting a holiday wreath making workshop at its headquarters on Sunday, December 4 at 10 a.m.

In this workshop, led by local horticulturist Susanne Lucas, guests will make and take home a beautiful all-natural wreath for the holidays. Help cleanup White Horse Beach

Join the Wildlands Trust at White Horse Beach  for COASTSWEEP on October 29 from 9 a.m. to noon. COASTSWEEP is an annual state-wide beach cleanup and data collection effort organized by the Massachusetts Office of Coastal Zone Management. This cleanup will also be part of the town-wide beach cleanup day in Plymouth. Volunteers will work in small teams to collect and record trash found on the shoreline. This data is then used to develop education and policy initiatives to help reduce marine debris. Continue Reading →

Wildlands Trust hosting bird-watching trip to Manomet Point and beyond

The Wildlands Trust is hosting a bird-watching expedition led by Mass Audubon’s Wayne Peterson on October 29. The trip, which focuses on local waterfowl migration, includes Manomet Point and nearby ponds. Participants in this outing will receive an overview of the migratory routes and destinations of these birds, along with a description of the factors that influence their migratory behavior. PHOTOS: Butterfly garden at Davis-Douglas Farm

Monarch butterflies travel a long way, migrating back and forth between the Eastern United States and the Sierra Madre Mountains in Mexico, according to United States Department of Agriculture website. Andrew Bagnara, an AmericCorps volunteer with the Wildlands Trust, set out to build a place for the insects to rest. Along with a crew of volunteers, he built a butterfly garden at the Davis-Douglas Farm that will act as a rest stop for the tired travelers. Continue Reading →

Draw nature at the Emery West Preserve

Botanical artist Tricia Cassady, will lead a in nature art journaling at Emery Preserve West on April 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. No prior art knowledge or experience is needed. A charge of $10 for nonmembers includes an art journal and helps cover the cost of art supplies provided. Wildlands Trust members attend for free. Open house at the Davis-Douglas farm

Tours of the Davis-Douglas Farm will take place September 29 and October 21. The Wildlands Trust is hosting two open houses at the Davis-Douglas Farm on Long Pond Road. The events will give visitors a chance to learn about the Trust’s plans to relocate its headquarters to the property and to establish a new conservation center focused on land protection, land stewardship and passive outdoor recreation. Wildlands Trust buys Long Pond Road farm
