Pine Hills crash sends three to hospital

Three people were taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth with minor injuries following a head-on collision Saturday on State Road. According to Captain John Rogers, a car driven by a 48-year-old Pembroke man traveling north near the Pine Hills, at about 1 p.m.  was hit head-on by a southbound vehicle that reportedly drifted into the other lane. Parking concerns raised as Simes House manager seeks zoning change (with poll)

Efforts to rezone the Simes House met local opposition and a less than enthusiastic Planning Board, Monday night. Members of Manomet Village Commons Incorporated, the nonprofit that has a contract to operate the home, have insisted that a zoning change is needed to make the project financially viable. Open House at the Moose Lodge on September 16

The Plymouth Moose Lodge will start its 20th anniversary celebration by holding an Open House for the public on Saturday, September 16 from 9 a.m. until noon at their lodge home at 601 State Road in Manomet. The Open House will showcase the Plymouth Moose Lodge working hard to be the “Heart of the Community” by helping charitable and other non-profit organizations. The men and women of the Plymouth Moose fraternity will be available to offer tours of the building, as well as to answer questions about the fraternity, and the Lodge’s involvement in the local community. Driver arrested for OUI while taking friends home

A Duxbury man arrested for drunk driving in Manomet early Sunday morning probably had the best of intentions. According to Captain John Rogers, Matthew Abbott, 22, was pulled over on Rocky Hill Road at around 1:20 a.m. after a caller had reported him driving erratically.  Not only did the officer allegedly find Abbott was drunk, he also found two passengers, a man and a woman, in the car, Rogers said. Open Space Committee wants to hear from you

Plymouth residents are invited to meet with members of the Open Space Committee to discuss the Plymouth Open Space Plan on Saturday, September 9 between 10 a.m. and noon at St. Catherine’s Chapel Park in Manomet, 95 White Horse Rd. The purpose of this event is to inform the public about the changes recommended to update the 2010 Open Space Plan and answer questions and receive comments about the Plan.  The Open Space Plan addresses natural, recreational, and agricultural open spaces and recommends actions to increase and improve these spaces. Manomet man charged with two counts of assault

Two people are under arrest, and one is in the hospital,  following a fight on Patriot Circle, Monday evening. According to Captain John Rogers, police responded to a call about two men fighting in the street at Patriot Circle at around 6:30 p.m.  Michael McStay, 48, of Patriot Circle had allegedly assaulted a 48-year-old Plymouth woman by picking her up and throwing her to the pavement, Rogers said. A Wareham man, 23,  then reportedly intervened. McStay allegedly threatened him with  knife and, in self-defense, the Wareham man punched McStay, sending him to the pavement. As a result, McStay suffered a head injury and was taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Plymouth. Continue Reading →

Manomet man arrested for armed robberies in North Plymouth, Plymouth Center

A Manomet man is in custody in connection with a trio of armed robberies that happened over the weekend. Joshua Duggan, 37, was picked up by police at the Plymouth District Court, Monday afternoon, according to Captain John Rogers. He was, Rogers said, there on an unrelated matter. Drunk driving arrest on Beaver Dam Road

A Manomet woman was arrested for OUI Sunday evening on Beaver Dam Road. According to Captain John Rogers, an officer reportedly spotted Coleen Marsik, 54, of Beaver Dam Road as she was driving erratically at about 6 p.m. The officer stopped her and after a brief investigation, arrested her, Rogers said. Work to protect Manomet Point set to begin

Work to keep Manomet Point from sliding into Cape Cod Bay is expected to begin soon. The plan, according to Director of Public Works Jonathan Beder, is to protect the bluff with boulders, lowered by a crane, weighing between 1 and 3 tons.  Beder wasn’t sure exactly when the work would begin. Two arrested following alleged OUI on State Road

A Kingston woman was charged with drunk following an incident in the Pine Hills early Wednesday morning. According to Captain John Rogers, officers were alerted to a disturbance between two people near 150 State Road at about 2 a.m. After a brief investigation, Rogers said, police allegedly found that Kelly Morini, 45, had hit two mailboxes before coming to a stop. Cedarville man arrested for OUI on Beaver Dam Road

A Cedarville man was arrested for allegedly driving drunk, for the second time,  in Manomet, late Sunday night. According to Captain John Rogers, Thomas Macleod, 29, of Lunn’s Way was spotted allegedly  swerving between lanes as he travelled on Route 3. Manomet man arrested after throwing cigarette, clothing rack at cop

A Manomet man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted a police officer multiple times on the Plymouth waterfront, Thursday night. According to Captain John Rogers, an officer approached a man who was yelling and screaming on Water Street at around 9 p.m.. When the officer told the man to put out his cigarette, he instead allegedly threw it at the officer, Rogers said. The cigarette reportedly hit the officer, injuring him slight. Anthony Rodrigues, 24, of Everson Avenue then allegedly punched the officer and fled into a nearby store. Continue Reading →
