Work to protect Manomet Point set to begin

Work to keep Manomet Point from sliding into Cape Cod Bay is expected to begin soon. The plan, according to Director of Public Works Jonathan Beder, is to protect the bluff with boulders, lowered by a crane, weighing between 1 and 3 tons.  Beder wasn’t sure exactly when the work would begin. Beder met with town staff, Lobster Pound Owner Frank Collins and  other interested parties at the Point Tuesday morning to discuss the plan. (more…) Continue Reading →

Wildlands Trust hosting bird-watching trip to Manomet Point and beyond

The Wildlands Trust is hosting a bird-watching expedition led by Mass Audubon’s Wayne Peterson on October 29. The trip, which focuses on local waterfowl migration, includes Manomet Point and nearby ponds. Participants in this outing will receive an overview of the migratory routes and destinations of these birds, along with a description of the factors that influence their migratory behavior. Kayakers rescued off Manomet Point after shark attack

A great white shark attacked a kayak off Manomet Point, Wednesday evening. According to an Assistant Plymouth Harbormaster, the shark flipped the boat. POLL: Traffic light at Manomet Point and State Roads

Work is expected to begin soon on a project to reconfigure the intersection of Manomet Point Road, State Road and Strand Avenue, including the installation of a traffic signal. 
While the $1.4 million project has been over a decade in the planning, there are still some who don't think it's a good idea. What do you think?
