Manomet Elementary students spread holiday cheer

 
Prior to the holiday break, approximately 20 students from Manomet Elementary School headed out to three local nursing homes in order to spread some cheer.

WICKED LOCAL: Broken sprinkler head floods classrooms at Manomet Elementary School

A wing of Manomet Elementary School flooded over the weekend after a sprinkler head malfunctioned. Superintendent Gary Maestas said the water problem in the 1960s-era kindergarten wing was discovered shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday. Blackhawk helicopter dazzles Manomet Elementary

As if a gorgeous spring day wasn’t enough, Manomet Elementary School students had an extra reason to want to go outside, Wednesday. Game Show Night to fund MES Playground is coming soon

Manomet Elementary School is organizing a game show night fundraiser and they need a live studio audience. Teams made up of 16 businesses and prominent groups from around town, including MES Staff, Plymouth Police, Beth Israel Deaconess, Representative Matt Muratore, the Rotary Club and the School Committee will participate in a “Family-Feud” style game show tournament  for the benefit of MES students. Manomet Elementary School students learn it’s the season for giving

On Friday, December 11, Manomet kindergarten students took part in a project which called them to perform random acts of kindness both in school and in the community. Students shared and displayed their efforts in the school hallways. ‘Space Pirates’ at Manomet Elementary School

The Manomet Elementary School Fall After-School Theater Workshop program presents “Space Pirates.” performances are December 10 at 1:45 p.m., and December 11 at 6:30 p.m.

Manomet Elementary School community looks to raise funds to replace playground

Manomet Elementary School’s playground is only a little older than the students who use it, but unlike them, its best days are already behind it. That’s why they’re planning an ambitious fundraising campaign to replace it. The goal is to raise $60,000 in the next two years to replace most of the equipment, Principal Patrick Fraine said. “Over the last four or five years, it’s been looking bad,” Fraine said. Manomet Elementary School students sing at Providence Bruins game

A group of Manomet Elementary School students recently sang “God Bless America” at a Providence Bruins hockey game. The group of 4th and 5th graders make up about half of the MES Chorus. Manomet Elementary students exercise means food for those in need

Manomet Elementary School has completed its 7th annual Turkey Trot, planned by physical education teacher Christine Kupinski. During class, the students went outside to run, jog, or walk for 20 minutes. The students got sponsors who agreed that for every lap of the field that they completed, they would donate one non-perishable food item. The food will be donated to the St. Bonaventure food panty to help people in need. Continue Reading →

One dead in chemical incident at Manomet Elementary School

 

A custodian at Manomet Elementary School is reportedly dead following a chemical incident, according to Captain John Rogers. Chester Flattery, 53, died of chemical exposure, according to WATD-FM. Eleven other people were hospitalized for exposure to the unidentified chemicals, WBUR-FM reports.   Continue Reading →

Wellness fair at Manomet Elementary

Manomet School hosted its 3rd Annual Wellness Fair on Wednesday. Students in all grades attended a series of 15-minute presentations designed to promote health awareness and general wellness. Students heard from representatives from the Plymouth Police, Plymouth Fire and Plymouth Harbormaster. Several parents who are health care providers also shared information on a range of topics. Manomet Elementary teacher hits the school supply jackpot

ifts for her classroom as part of Office Max=E2=80=99s annual =E2=80=9CDay =
Made Better.=E2=80=9D</p>

hair for her desk. In addition, Office Max donated a large box of other ite=
ms to the remainder of the Manomet staff.</p>
<p dir=3D”ltr”>Representatives from the company came to 1,000 schools=
throughout the country to honor nominated teachers. Although many of the i=
tems were donated directly by Office Max, some were also donated to them by=
generous customers.</p>

Manomet Elementary students learn about first responders

Manomet Elementary School welcomed District Social Studies Coordinator Kathy Babini for a special presentation. She conducted an assembly for first graders to enrich their understanding of the important work first responders do in the community in an effort to highlight their work as a way of commemorating their heroism during the events of September 11. The first graders will be presenting their local firehouse with cookies as a way of saying thank you for the work they do.
