Pitchers shine as Pilgrims split two

A quality start in baseball is defined as an outing in which a pitcher throws at least six innings and allows no more than three earned runs. On Wednesday, the Plymouth Pilgrims spoiled a quality start from Jonathan Bermudez (St. Leo), falling to the Valley Blue Sox by a final score of 12-5. Pilgrims start season with two wins

The Plymouth Pilgrims christened Forges Field for the 2017 season in walk-off fashion, defeating the Newport Gulls 2-1 on Thursday night. 

The Pilgrims advanced to 2-0 on the young season after first baseman Hernen Sardinas drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning. Read more here. Continue Reading →

Pilgrims get first win of the season

The Plymouth Pilgrims got their first win of the season against the Danbury Westerners Saturday, claiming the 8-6 victory at Forges Field. Call it the Matt O’Neil show. Plymouth Pilgrims lose opener to Newport

In a game where the cold air infected both teams’ bats, the Newport Gulls shut out the Plymouth Pilgrims 8-0 at Forges Field Thursday. There was a mere total of nine hits on the night, seven by the defending New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) champions and only two by the Pilgrims. Mississippi State outfielder and Arkansas State pitcher set to return to Plymouth Pilgrims

The 2014 season was a huge success for the Pilgrims as they went on to win 31 games and take the Southern Division championship and the players on the team were a special group. Heading into 2015, the Pilgrims are hoping a little bit of that magic rubs off with the help of two returning players. Pilgrims eliminated by Newport

Needing a win to keep their season alive, the Plymouth Pilgrims played their hearts out in front of a packed Forges Field. In the end, it was not to be. With two days of rest, the Plymouth Pilgrims headed into the second round of the NECBL playoffs refreshed. Unfortunately, their opponents were up to the challenge. Pilgrims take game one from Mystic

After finishing the regular season with the best record in the NECBL, the Plymouth Pilgrims went into the playoffs hoping to continue their winning ways. Pilgrims top Danbury

With the top record in the NECBL already clinched, the Plymouth Pilgrims are playing now to tune up for the postseason. In their second to last scheduled game, however, they took one more step towards history. The Pilgrims (31-10) defeated the Danbury Westerners 2-0 at Forges Field Friday, pulling within one win of tying the NECBL record for wins in a season. Pilgrims walk-off over Sanford

With just four games remaining, the Plymouth Pilgrims are utilizing every available option to win games. Wednesday night, it was all hands on deck. The Pilgrims (29-10) took down the Sanford Mainers 3-2 in 14 innings at Forges Field. The win gives the Pilgrims a record of 10-2 against the Northern Division on the season. Pilgrims lose heartbreaker in extras

Heading in to Thursday night’s game between the two division leaders, the Plymouth Pilgrims knew that they were going to have their hands full. The Pilgrims (25-8) lost to the Vermont Mountaineers 2-1 in 12 innings at Forges Field. Both pitching staffs were excellent, but Vermont scored the game’s final two runs to come out ahead. Pilgrims shut out Valley

After two days off following the NECBL All-Star Game, the Plymouth Pilgrims had a magic number of six heading into a grueling 11 game in 11 day stretch to end the regular season. They started off on the right foot in game one. The Pilgrims (25-7) defeated the Valley Blue Sox 2-0 Wednesday at Forges Field. Starting pitcher Thomas Jankins, who was cut by the Blue Sox before the season, threw six and a third innings of shutout baseball and is now up over 39 innings without allowing an earned run. Pilgrims win one, lose one to New Bedford

Entering Saturday’s game, the Plymouth Pilgrims had only lost twice in a row one time all season and wanted to keep that stretch going. Thanks to a tremendous pitching performance, they did. The Pilgrims (24-7) beat the New Bedford Bay Sox 7-1 at Paul Walsh Field in New Bedford to split their home and home series. Pilgrims bats lead the way over Mystic

After clinching a playoff spot by virtue of New Bedford’s loss Saturday night, the Plymouth Pilgrims enter the final stretch with only playoff positioning to worry about. Tuesday, they took another step closer to a division crown. The Pilgrims (22-6) defeated the Mystic Schooners 10-1 at Forges Field. With the win, Plymouth clinched the season series, going 4-1 through the first five games between the teams.

Pilgrims bash Mystic, take down Sanford

After the offensive explosion the Plymouth Pilgrims had Thursday, it was hard to expect a repeat performance back at home. On the strength of a hot hitter, expectations were met and exceeded. The Pilgrims (20-6) the Mystic Schooners 10-4 at Forges Field Friday. The Pilgrims were led offensively by left fielder Brent Rooker, who went 4-for-5 with two long home runs and five RBI. Pilgrims blown out by Ocean State

The Plymouth Pilgrims had won their last three games by a score of 17-5 over the fifth- and sixth-place teams in the NECBL Southern Division. Their streak of good play ran out against the fourth-place team, however. The Pilgrims (18-6) lost to the Ocean State Waves 8-2 at Forges Field Wednesday night. Plymouth Pilgrims Coast Over New Bedford

The Plymouth Pilgrims returned home after a two win weekend to face a division foe, hoping to extend their division lead. Thanks to an explosive inning and a dominant start, they did just that. The Pilgrims (18-5) took down the New Bedford Bay Sox 8-2 at Forges Field Monday night thanks to a five-run fourth inning. Pilgrims fall in 17 innings to Newport

The Plymouth Pilgrims entered Thursday with a half-game lead in the NECBL Southern Division. After playing nearly two full games, they no longer are in first place. The Pilgrims (15-5) lost to the Newport Gulls 3-2 in 17 innings at Forges Field Thursday, the team’s second loss in a row. Pilgrims blanked at home by Keene

After finishing June with the best record in the NECBL, the Plymouth Pilgrims hoped to keep their momentum going into July. Unfortunately for them, they could not do so Wednesday. The Pilgrims (15-4) lost 7-0 to the Keene Swamp Bats at Forges Field, the worst loss of the season to date. In the game, Plymouth stranded 10 men on base, including six in scoring position.
