Testing set for water system expansion plan

The Town of Plymouth will be conducting geotechnical testing on  Clark Road, Beaver Dam Road, Long Pond Road and Jordan Road beginning  July 20, 2017:
This work is related to the design and permitting of the expansion of the Town’s municipal water system. This spring, Town Meeting provided funds to design and permit this project, which includes the development of two new groundwater supply facilities and the design of approximately 14 miles of water mains. The water system expansion will  include the installation of an elevated water storage tank, and the construction of valve control stations that will connect to the Town’s existing pressure zones. Construction of these proposed improvements would not occur until a subsequent Town Meeting Article approves funding. (more…) Continue Reading →

Town announces paving of Clark, Rocky Hill and Doten roads

The Department of Public Works will begin paving Clark Road, Rocky Hill Road and Doten Road starting Wednesday, July 20, 2016
Clark Road will be paved from Route 3 to Old Sandwich Road,  Rocky Hill Road will be paved from from Whitehorse Beach Road to Powerhouse Road, and Doten Road in its entirety. (more…) Continue Reading →

WICKED LOCAL: Plymouth DPW crew rescues fawn near Manomet Transfer Station

“It was pretty impressive, just hearing the fawn down there, crying,” Plymouth Natural Resource warden Nate Cristofori said, recounting how he was informed about a fawn that fallen into a culvert and become trapped. A DPW crew was working near the Manomet Transfer Station and, over the sounds of the transfer station and cars rushing down Beaver Dam Road, heard what sounded like a cross between a kazoo and a cat’s meowing. Pave Ship Pond Road?!

Ship Pond Road may be getting a little TLC this summer. Spurred by the efforts of Robyn Risso, the owner of Valinor Farms on Old Sandwich Road, Public Works Director Jonathan Beder told the Planning Board Monday that he planned on regraveling the stretch of Ship Pond Road that stretches from Long Pond Road to Old Sandwich Road. State responds for call to speed up Taylor Avenue repairs

There might be a glimmer of hope that the reconstruction of Taylor Avenue is coming a little sooner, according to Town Manager Melissa Arrighi’s report to the Board of Selectmen. In early March, Department of Public Works Director Jonathan Beder wrote State Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack noting the Taylor Avenue bridge was in dire condition and asking for the bridge work to be down now.  Pollack has replied, saying her department may advance to project to the 100 percent design phase.
