A Dorchester man in town to visit his brother at the Baird Center faces three assault charges after his own outstanding warrants came to light. According to Capt. John Rogers, Kendrick Hood, 17, fought with two state troopers and a Plymouth police officer when they came to arrest him at the Ship Pond Road facility Wednesday afternoon. Police first learned Hood was wanted when a counselor went to the Exit 5 rest area on Long Pond Road to pick him and his mother up to take them to the Baird Center. Charges are expected to include three counts of assault and battery on a police officer and malicious destruction of property.

A 16-year-old client at the Baird Center was arrested on multiple charges Tuesday evening. According to Capt. John Rogers, counselors at the facility suspected the boy of smoking marijuana. After an ambulance was called, he allegedly threatened to attack staff members with a knife. According to Rogers, no knife was ever seen. The youth then allegedly threw small rocks that damaged windows and a vehicle. Continue Reading →

The Old Sandwich Road Race returns for its second year this Saturday. This year there will be four competitions spread over two days. Saturday, will feature a 5 kilometer run and the OSRR Kid’s Classic. The second event is a series of five one-mile runs for children between the ages of 7 and 14. A dispute over property left one boy in the hospital and another facing charges of assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.According to the police report, the incident occurred Saturday night at the Baird Center on Ship Pond Road, when two juveniles staying at the facility got into a fight.Plymouth Police Capt. John Rogers said the suspect, 14, hit the other juvenile three times with a baseball bat.Both were listed as having Plymouth addresses, Rogers said.The victim, 16, was taken to Jordan Hospital with what Rogers described as lacerations to the head which were not life threatening. His present status is not known.The suspect was held over the weekend and is being arraigned today.
