Priscilla Beach Theatre opened its barn doors to its summer stock troupe who will call Plymouth home for 10 weeks of round-the-clock rehearsal and 25 performances.
The talented pre-professional actors from 13 states, including 12 of the top performance programs in the U.S., competed amongst 1,000 actors seen for the 30 spots in this year’s resident summer stock troupe.
“They’re the best of the best,” says Bob Malone, PBT owner and producer. “We’re like the Cape Cod Baseball League of theater.”
Cast members have been studying and training for as much as a decade already to make it this far. PBT’s program exposes them to a diversity of people from different parts of the country with different perspectives, including celebrated directors experienced at developing young talent. Actors are provided with living quarters and are paid a stipend for the run.
“Where else could I live with my cast, rehearse five hours-a-day, and go to the beach,” exclaimed Kaylene Snarsky, a rising junior at Oklahoma City University and a Braintree native. “On top of that, I get paid to do it!
