The Spanish Ministry of Health has added Brazil and South Africa to the Covid-19 list of countries at high risk of transmission. As a result, from August 3, travelers from these countries will be required to comply with a 10-day quarantine upon arrival in Spain from August 3. The same measure applies to travelers from Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia and Namibia.

The decision is based on a joint analysis of the main indicators used for this purpose in the European Union. The criteria include the cumulative incidence over 14 days, the rate of positive cases, the rate of diagnostic tests and the percentage of the population vaccinated.
