Apple ID is essential on Apple devices. Through this account we can access the App Store, take advantage of our Apple Music subscription, make backup copies or synchronize information between our iPhone, iPad or Mac, to name a few examples. Considering its importance, let us see, for those who are new to Apple platforms, how to find our Apple ID.

Yuhuu… Apple ID… Where are you?

When we set up our iPhone, iPad or Apple Watch for the first time, we are prompted to enter our Apple ID or create a new one. This step, however, can be skipped, so we may end up with a device without its most important account active.

Finding our Apple ID on an iPhone or iPad is very simple, the steps to follow are as follows:

We open the Settings app on our iPhone or iPad. At the top, we play our name. An email address should appear under our name, this is our Apple ID.

On Mac, the steps are very similar, in particular these:

From the Apple () menu, we choose System Preferences. We enter the Apple ID. Again, below our photo and name, an email should appear: our Apple ID.

I have the Apple ID, but the password…

At this point, another important question remains to be resolved. And what is the password? First, let’s review our usual password repositories. We can write it in our diary, in the Notes application or on a post-it. If we can’t find it, the best we can do is change it. On our iPhone or iPad we will do it like this:

We open the Settings app on our iPhone or iPad. At the top, we play our name. We touch on password and security. We tap on Change Password.

On Mac, the steps to follow are as follows:

From the Apple () menu, we choose System Preferences. We enter the Apple ID. We touch on password and security. We tap on Change Password.

Nothing, no Apple ID appears

When you access the Settings app or System Preferences, our name may not appear at the top. This means that the Apple ID session, assuming we have one, is not logged in. If we are sure we have created it, we simply enter the email and password to log in.

If we have doubts about the existence of an Apple ID, the best thing to do, before creating a new one, is to verify its existence. We can do this on the dedicated Apple website, where by entering the first name, last name and email address we can check if it is an Apple ID. From there we can decide whether to use it on our devices or if we prefer to create a new one.

As we started by saying that Apple ID is the most important account in our devices. An account that, if we have doubts about its correct configuration or even its existence, we can locate it very easily.
