The evolution of Xiaomi’s most experimental mobiles is now official: the latest model of the Mix family, the Xiaomi Mix 4, targets the highest range of phones and the one with the highest functionality. Beyond its unique screen features, how does the Xiaomi Mix 4 hold up against its competition on Android? We compare them.

The first Xiaomi Mi Mix dazzled with its all-screen concept with the front camera on the lower frame. From there, the brand evolved the concept until it was no longer unique; It is not in vain that all smartphones are already aiming to get the most out of the front panel. Considering the maximum category of the range, the Xiaomi Mix 4 targets the most premium segment of smartphones. And there you have a lot of competition.

We pitted the new Xiaomi Mix 4 against the Sony Xperia 1 III, OnePlus 9 Pro, Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, OPPO Find X3 Pro and Huawei Mate 40 Pro.

A family losing its innovative DNA

It is not that the Xiaomi Mix 4 leaves aside innovation since the brand offers some unusual details; like its front camera under the screen. This detail is only included in two ZTE phones, the ZTE Axon 20 and the ZTE Axon 30. None of the phones in our review offer this element apart from Xiaomi, but a hole in the panel for the camera. .

All the phones in the premium range that we have chosen offer an OLED screen with a minimum of Full HD + resolution. The fingerprint reader under the panel is characteristic (optical in everything except the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which is ultrasonic), also the high quality for this element.

Power marks the range that the Xiaomi Mix 4 is targeting, just like the rest of its competitors: with the Snapdragon 888+, Xiaomi’s new mobile should be slightly above its competitors. Of course, only in raw power, which in daily use should not have excessive differences.

Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra

5G for everyone, enough RAM and storage with high transfer speeds, dual SIM, space for SD in the Samsung and Sony (NM card in the Huawei Mate 40 Pro) and exaggerated dimensions for everyone (and lying in the Sony Xperia 1 III).

Many cameras and high quality, the keynote of the premium range

Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra

The Xiaomi Mix 4 relies on the multiplicity of cameras with a rear module that extends far beyond the body. Ahead integrates the camera under the panel, the only one in our comparison to focus on this element.

Oppo Find X3 Pro

Beyond the camera under the slab, the Xiaomi Mix 4 relies on a triple sensor with lenses ranging from wide angle to telephoto. It includes a telescopic zoom, just like the Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, and Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra. For its part, the OPPO Find X3 is the only one to include a rear camera with a microscope. Its usefulness, yes, is questionable.

Huawei mate 40 pro

The main camera of the Xiaomi Mix 4 is 108 megapixels, the same as that of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
