Plymouth police arrested five people at an alleged brothel in Manomet, Wednesday morning.

The arrests were part of a nearly year-long investigation that resulted in 10 people being arrested at three locations in Plymouth, according to Police Chief Michael Botieri. The investigation, he said, included agents from the US State Department, the State Division of Professional Licensing and detectives from the Quincy Police Department. According to Botieri, the investigation was prompted by several anonymous tips to the police.

Police recovered $51,000 in cash at the three locations, Botieri said. Police found child pornography on cell phones at one location, he added. Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz called the images “incredibly disturbing.” Also found were ledgers which may contain information about the alleged customers of the establishment, according to Assistant District Attorney Jeremy Beth Kusmin. Further arrests could be made based on the information in the ledgers, Cruz said.

The Manomet arrests were made at the Elysium Spa on State Road. Three people with Manomet addresses were among those arrested, including Thomas Thevenin, 50, of Ray Road, Jiping Wang, 51, of State Road and a 50-year-old woman who also lived at State Road. Both Jiping and the other woman gave the Elysium Spa as their place of residence. Also arrested there were Douglas Crociati, 53, of Dunham Road, A 45-year-old Samoset Street woman and a 51-year-old Samoset Street woman. Crociati is the Vice-Chairman of the Plymouth Airport Commission.

According to WATD-FM, bail was set at $15,000 for the Thevenin and Crociati, $10,000 for Wang and $5,000 for the three women.  Court-appointed attorneys for the women told the judge their permanent residences were in Brooklyn.

According to Cruz, the women, who are all immigrants from China, are in the United States legally. They all have temporary visas, he said.  One of the defendants, he said, fled the area after posting bail. She has ties to both New York and China.
