The Board of Selectmen decided to make an example of Cafe Roo, a restaurant in the Pinehills, during their meeting Wednesday.
According to the Old Colony Memorial, the board voted to deny a license transfer for the business due to non-payment of back taxes. The owners of the company had requested a transfer of the common victualler’s license to a new company. However, the owners owe up to $6,242 in back taxes, according to Town Manager Melissa Arrighi.
The town, she said, has been making an effort to not grant licenses to businesses or people who owe back taxes. She urged the board send a message by rejecting the license transfer, which it did unanimously.
