Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station shut down this morning due to the impending snow storm, according to a statement from the company.
Pilgrim has been operating at 30 percent power since Monday night when a small seawater leak was identified in one condenser tube and subsequently repaired, the statement noted. Pilgrim staff are currently plugging additional tubes to prevent the problem from happening in the future, the statement added. That work will continue while the plant is offline.
The statement declined to say when Pilgrim will return to full power calling it “business sensitive” information.
