ARD fundraising gala “We stay together”: the will to help flood victims is great – also financially.

Cologne / Leipzig (dpa) – strong will to donate in three hours of airtime: 6,538,000 euros was the provisional results of the ARD charity gala “We hold together” on Friday evening.

Along with the other 10 million that were collected as part of the ‘Aktion Deutschland hilft’ donation day, more than 16.5 million euros were raised for the victims of the flood disaster, reported moderator Ingo Zamperoni . Together with Sarah von Neuburg, he led the evening in two studios in Cologne and Leipzig.

The fundraising for residents of flood-prone areas was supported by a number of distinguished guests. “People are in shock. They didn’t even come to cry, ”said musician Herbert Grönemeyer, who performed his hit“ Mensch ”on the show. As a foreigner, it is difficult to understand the tragedy – it is all the more important to accompany and support those affected over a long period of time.

Musician Sarah Connor dedicated the premiere of her new song “Stark” to those affected by the floods. Max Giesinger and Peter Maffay also presented new songs at the donation gala. Other musical contributions came from Rea Garvey, Roland Kaiser, Die Prinzen, Max Mutzke, Jeanette Biedermann, Yvonne Catterfeld, Joris, Frida Gold and Brings. Udo Lindenberg has donated a painting of his own making which can be auctioned off for a good cause until Monday.

The ARD show was created in cooperation with SWR, WDR, MDR, BR, NDR and Kimmig Entertainment. The benefit show was preceded by a full day of donations by ARD on Friday. On numerous ARD radio waves, the day began at 7 am with a break in memory of the victims of the disaster, and the broadcasters, together with “Aktion Deutschland hilft”, called for donations throughout the daytime.
