In “Identity”, ultra-politically correct, René is a black middle-class woman who accidentally meets Claire, a childhood friend. The detail is that Claire, also black, pretends to be white. She has straight blonde hair and lives with her white and extremely racist husband. Claire, however, misses her darkness and repeats a tumultuous rapprochement with her “true identity” – until the tragic outcome. All in black and white and with a jazz piano to give it charm, some say that “Identity” is already the winning moral of the Oscar 2022.
