Late last year, Google surprised us by announcing that it would bring Google Play Games to Windows sometime in 2022, officially making it possible to play Android games on a PC.

The time has come, at least the first beta in a few regions, where users can already register. In the rest of the world, it is also possible to express your interest to be notified of its availability, in addition to having more details on its operation, minimum requirements included.

Android Games on Windows

Android games are officially coming to Android, starting with limited testing in South Korea, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. In these regions, it is possible to sign up for the beta from the Google Play Games website. In the rest of the world you can show your interest and you will be notified when it becomes available in your area.

This initial release gives us more details on how things will work and what games will be available initially. In addition to various Korean titles, the beta kicks off with ‘State of Survival: The Zombie Apocalypse’, ‘Dragon Mania Legends’, ‘Asphalt 9: Legends’, ‘War Planet Online: MMO Game’, ‘Cash Frenzy™ – Casino Machines ‘, ‘Township Summoners’ War: Sky Arena’, ‘Cookie Run: OvenBreak’, ‘Rise of Empires: Ice and Fire’, ‘Magic Rush: Heroes’, ‘Last Shelter: Survival’, ‘Idle Heroes’ and ‘ ¡Top War: Battle Game’.

As we can see in the promotional video, the system will be quite similar to having Google Play on Windows, with the difference that what we will see and be able to download will only be games. These games are specifically prepared for large screens and to be controlled with a mouse and keyboard.

Another fundamental thing about Google Play Games for Windows is that game progress between mobile and PC is synced, as long as you use the same account. This way you can start a game on mobile and continue later on PC and vice versa.

Minimum requirements

Android games will be available for Windows, with Mac support still up in the air. We now have the list of official minimum requirements. They are not too demanding, except maybe the need to have an SSD hard drive. Here are the minimum requirements:

Windows 10 (v2004)

Solid State Drive (SSD)

Gaming-grade GPU

8 logical core processor

8 GB RAM

20 GB of available storage space

Windows administrator account

Hardware virtualization must be enabled

Compatible PC and Setup

As we mentioned earlier, the beta begins in South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan and will reach other locations from 2022. Google tells us there will be changes to the Google mobile app Play Games, and this name will refer to the application for PC , with a quite different approach to that of mobile.
