Police are citing a medical issue as the reason a 58-year-old Abington man drove his car off a Manomet cliff, Sunday afternoon.
According to Captain John Rogers, the driver was seen heading slowly down Strand Avenue, he then crashed through the wooden fence guarding a small grass area at the intersection of Strand and Manomet Avenues. The Lexus sedan fell 40 feet before resting on some trees, he said.
Firefighters were able to extract the driver, who was conscious at the time, Rogers said. He was uninjured, but taken to South Shore Hospital as a precaution.
