Amid the ongoing celebrations following the full withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan, the leaders of the ruling Taliban have issued a surprise statement on the Kashmir issue.

Taliban leader Anus Haqqani told a news channel, “Kashmir does not come under our jurisdiction and we do not want to interfere in it.” As per our policy, we do not interfere in the affairs of other countries and we hope that other countries will not interfere in our affairs. We want all disputes to be resolved peacefully, our doors are open to all. We want to build good relations with the rest of the world.

“We want good relations with India,” Haqqani said. We don’t want anyone to think wrong of us. India has helped our enemy for twenty years but we are ready to forget everything and move forward with the relationship. Media in India is doing negative publicity about us but all this is going wrong. This is making the environment worse.

“I want to say that everyone in Afghanistan, including Hindus and Sikhs, is safe and people are happy,” he said. Like the people of other communities, Hindus and Sikhs will also live in peace in Afghanistan.
