Manomet man arrested in stabbing outside church

A Manomet man is under arrest for attempted murder after getting into a fight in Plymouth Center.

James Carroll, 31, allegedly slashed and stabbed another man outside of the Church of the Pilgrimage, Monday afternoon, according to Capt. John Rogers. The victim, 51, had superficial wounds to his shoulder and throat. He was taken to Jordan Hospital.

The two reportedly started fighting over a female acquaintance.

The church serves a hot meal every Monday for anyone who comes in, office manager Shellie Souza said. The alleged victim, she said, did have lunch there, but she did not know if Carroll, or the woman did.

Carroll, who is listed as having an Old Colony Drive address, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed assault with intent to murder. Bail was set at $7,500.
