launch your new Apple headphones in style

If the Kings have left you with some new AirPods, now is the time to make the most of them. We’ve got tips for AirPods 2, AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max, including the latest iOS 15 enhancements. So get ready to get started. Remember that this way you can connect your AirPods to a Windows PC.

The best AirPods tips you can use right now

Update your AirPods now

Some of the newer features of AirPods require their latest software. To update the AirPods firmware to its latest version, we need to do the following:

Put on the AirPods and connect them to your iPhone. Open Settings> General> Info and go to the name of your AirPods. Look at the firmware number. If it is not the last one available, we put them in the case, connect it to the mains and leave it near the iPhone.

Your AirPods should therefore be updated to the latest firmware version available, if you don’t already have it. Unfortunately, there is no easier process to do this.

Talk Amplification with AirPods Pro

Speech amplification is a feature of AirPods Pro that allows us to hear more clearly. This is a feature designed for people with a hearing problem. AirPods Pro use their microphones with beamforming technology to improve listening to those in front of you.

To do this, you need to follow these steps:

On your iPhone, open Settings> Accessibility. Go to Audio / Visual> Headset settings. We turn them on, and with the AirPods Pro on, at the end of everything we’ll see Ambient Sound Mode. We walk in and at the end is the conversation boost function.

Announce notifications from some or all of your apps

AirPods can help you not miss a single notification, although it can be overwhelming if you get more than one. With iOS 15 on your iPhone, you can ask Siri to read all or just some of the notifications from your favorite apps to you. To do this, do this:

On your iPhone, go to Settings> Notifications. In Announce notifications, turn it on and choose which apps can do it.

Connect your AirPods automatically

Bluetooth headsets always connect to the last device they were paired with. But AirPods can automatically connect to the device you’re using at that time. If you have an iPad, Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch under the same Apple ID, you can listen to music on iPhone and go watch video on iPad.

The audio will automatically switch between them, without having to change any settings. If you’d rather not have this feature, just automatically log into the latest device.

Share audio between AirPods sets

For a few versions of iOS, audio sharing has been a very useful AirPod feature. It allows two people to listen to the same movie, series or music, each with their own AirPods.

With our AirPods connected, we bring those of the other person closer together and wait for a window to open to temporarily share the audio. We will follow the onscreen instructions until we get it. We can also do this using the AirPlay button, with other AirPods nearby to make it work.

Use Hey Siri from AirPods

AirPods with an H1 chip are able to detect magic words that summon Siri. Put on your AirPods and say “Hey Siri,” followed by whatever you need to get Apple Assistant to listen to you. You can take the opportunity to control sound, pause playback, or ask Siri for other things: the weather, the time, turn on a light with HomeKit, send messages or make a phone call.

Physical controls of your AirPods

With the exception of the AirPods Max, which have their own set of buttons similar to the Apple Watch, the rest of the AirPods are key operated or pinched in the case of the AirPods Pro. So, to control the audio, follow these steps:

Click or tap once to stop playback. Click or double tap to fast forward the song. Click or triple-tap to go to the previous song.

Enable noise cancellation or ambient sound on AirPods Pro and AirPods Max

The AirPods Pro and AirPods Max have a very useful feature: noise cancellation. This allows you to isolate yourself when listening to music, watching a series or a movie. It is a perfect function when we are in noisy environments, such as offices, trains and airplanes. To do this, you can ask Siri or:

Click and hold the AirPods Pro “paw”. Press the elongated button on your AirPods Max.

With these gestures, you will alternate between the two modes. The difference, as you will notice, is quite striking. But be careful on the street with this mode enabled, because you won’t hear the noise of passing vehicles and it can be dangerous.

Enable spatial audio on your AirPods 3, AirPods Pro, and AirPods Max

Spatial audio on AirPods is breathtaking. To enjoy it, you need one of the three compatible models: AirPods 3, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max. With them, do the following:

Drag the Control Center to show all the buttons. Keep your finger pressed on the volume slider to view more options. Enable spatial audio.

War movies like Greyhound win big with this immersive audio experience. As you turn your head, you will notice that the sound stays in place with the reference screen.

Use Hearing to better hear conversations

Hearing lets you use the iPhone as a microphone that sends the audio of a conversation to your AirPods. Unlike speech amplification, all listening work is done by the terminal. To activate it, follow these steps:

In iPhone settings, open Control Center. Add the Audition option. Now you can activate this option from Control Center when you want to hear better.

Rename your AirPods

AirPods are a very personal device. Apple automatically names AirPods our names, like Eduardo’s AirPods Pro. If we want to change the name of the AirPods, do the following, with our headphones on:

Go to Settings> Bluetooth, click on the Information “i” next to our AirPods. Click on the name of those AirPods and a menu will appear to change it.

We are going back and will have already changed the name to AirPods.

Check the AirPods battery

To find out how your AirPods are on battery power, simply bring them closer to the iPhone in its case and with the cover open. A menu will appear where it will inform us of the devices charge.

Find Your Lost AirPods With Find

Although AirPods do not have the U1 chip for the precise location of the AirTag, we can find them with the Search app in an approximate fashion. To do this, open the Search app on your iPhone and select your AirPods. You will find them in the last location where they were connected to one of your devices, making it easier to locate.
