A Pinehills woman fell victim to a tax season phone scam, Friday afternoon.
According to Captain John Rogers, the 65-year-old woman received a call from someone claiming to be from the IRS and stating she owed back taxes. The caller reportedly directed her to pay $300 using iTunes gift cards. Which she did, Rogers said.
The IRS does not call to demand payment, according to its website. It also will not require payment in the form of gift or prepaid cards.
