Afghanistan has been battling economic crisis and famine since the Taliban came to power.
In this, India has come forward to help Afghanistan. As part of humanitarian aid, India was in discussions with Pakistan to transport wheat to Afghanistan through Pakistan’s roads. Eventually, an agreement has been reached between the two countries on this issue.
India will deliver the first consignment of 50,000 tonnes of wheat and medicines to Afghanistan via Pakistan starting in February.
Pakistan wanted humanitarian aid to Kabul through its own trucks under the auspices of the United Nations. Pakistan has now agreed that wheat will be transported to Afghanistan by Afghan trucks. For this the list of contractors has been shared with Pakistan.
India is trying to use Pakistan’s roads since October 7.
