Levit, who has enjoyed great success with record buyers and critics since 2019 with the complete recording of Beethoven’s sonatas, has a clear preference for choice. “As for my membership in the Greens, it’s no secret, I’m totally transparent.” He was “critical, without obedience to content – but I trust a lot of those I have met in this party.” It’s my team! The German musician has long spoken on social media, in interviews or on location on political issues – for example for human rights, democracy and climate protection, against racism and right-wing radicalism . He supported the environmental activists of Fridays for Future at the piano in the street or positioned himself with his music during demonstrations in the forest of Dannenröder.

In the fall of 2020, Levit received the Federal Cross of Merit from Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier for his social commitment. In addition, on September 14, in Berlin, he will receive the “ifa Prize for the Dialogue of Cultures” from the Institute for Foreign Relations. His new album “On DSCH” with works by Dmitry Shostakovich and Ronald Stevenson will be released on September 10th.
