iFi continues to expand its list of audio devices with which to improve the standard audio of our players and now they have announced the launch of the ZEN One Signature, a DAC to which we can connect our PCs, consoles or mobile devices and which serves as a home audio center.
The ZEN One Signature is a compact device with an aluminum casing, just like the rest of the ZEN range. A DAC that allows the connection of a device by cable or Bluetooth. Unlike other models, we are dealing here with a pure DAC, without an integrated headphone amplifier or volume control.
To improve home audio
The ZEN One Signature wants to act as a central hub to enhance the audio of connected devices. It is compatible with computers, Windows PC and Mac, but also with tablets, mobile phones, televisions, consoles, record players, audio servers…
The ZEN One Signature is a device that aims to improve the digital audio signal of any device and to achieve this, it uses either a connection by or via Bluetooth. This is done by a Burr-Brown DAC chipset associated with an XMOS chip which processes incoming audio data via USB and S/PDIF.
The DAC is responsible for collecting the digital signal and converting it to analog to transmit it to another device. The ZEN One Signature is based on the ZEN DAC V2, from which it inherits its stage. As well as adding optical and coaxial digital audio inputs, it also adds a USB port and Bluetooth connectivity.
In this sense, the ZEN One Signature is compatible with Bluetooth v5.1 and offers support for the aptX Adaptive, aptX HD, LDAC, LHDC, aptX, aptX Low Latency, AAC and of course the basic SBC codecs. It is able to work with PCM signals up to 32 bits at 384 kHz via USB or 192 kHz via S/PDIF, but also DSD to DSD256 and DXD of one and two speeds that can be sent via its USB inputs Type B, coaxial or S/PDIF from which we can also decode MQA files.
The ZEN One Signature is powered via the USB socket from a connected device or directly from the mains via an AC/DC adapter. As for connections, it has USB 3.0 type B (USB 2.0 compatible), S/PDIF (coaxial, TOSLINK optical) and Bluetooth 5.1 compatible with aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, aptX LL, LDAC, LHDC/ HWA, AAC and SBC codecs.
Price and availability
The ZEN One Signature can now be purchased on the manufacturer’s website for 349 pounds, or around 419 euros, and also on Amazon Spain, although there is no availability at the moment.
