How to turn off the new “News & Interests” feed in the Windows 10 taskbar

A few days ago, we saw how one of the improvements previously made by the development versions came to the Windows 10 October 2020 update. This is the feed with access to weather and news information that appears accessible in the Windows 10 taskbar.

A way to access weather and current affairs information which they called “News and Interest”. An option that we can configure as we wish but that we can also deactivate if we are not interested, very simple thing to do in the corresponding menu.

I don’t want to see the news in the taskbar

And it is that there may be users who do not wish to have access to “news and interests” in the taskbar of their computer. If this is your case and you want to disable this add-on, here are the steps you can take.

If “News & Interests” already appears on your computer, you need to right-click anywhere on the taskbar.

Among all the sections, you should select “News and Interests” and you will see how the “Disconnect” option appears. If you check this option, you will no longer see this information in the taskbar. Additionally, we can set it to only show the icon if we want it to be more unobtrusive.

“News and Interest” works by collecting the data displayed from MSN. In this way, it offers information about news and weather forecasts and although at first it generated some resource consumption issues, these have been resolved after the latest updates.
