Google smart speakers include a very simple method to reset the settings and leave them as they were at the factory. Depending on the device we have, the process goes one way or another. In this article, we will explain how to proceed and thus delete all our personal information from Google Nest.
Resetting our Google Nest speaker is a recommended option, especially in cases where we are going to say goodbye to give it to another person, or in the event that there is a connection problem with another device and that it is necessary to delete the configuration to try to fix it. Depending on whether we have a Google Nest Mini, Nest Audio or Nest Hub, we will have to proceed differently. Here we leave you with the steps for each model.
How to Factory Reset Every Google Nest Model
Google Nest Mini: To remove the configuration from the device, simply mute the microphone from the physical button on the back until the lights turn orange. Once this is done, leave the central area of the device pressed for 15 seconds, where the lights are. During the first 5 seconds the process will start, but it will not be after another 10 seconds that the speaker will warn us that the process is in progress. Google Nest Audio: For the older sibling in the family, the procedure is much the same, although the button is now at the top of the device, right in the centre. Thus, we first turn off the microphone via the physical button on the back, and when the lights turn orange, we leave the central touch button pressed for about 15 seconds. During the first 5 seconds the process will start, but it will not be after another 10 seconds that the speaker will warn us that the process is in progress. Google Nest Hub and Hub Max: By having a screen, in this case the process is a little more similar to that of a mobile device. To reset the settings of the Nest Hub and the Nest Hub Max, we must press and hold both volume buttons for about 10 seconds. Once done, the speaker will inform us that the device is being reset.
The solution is not always to reset the device
Although the process is simple, we recommend using this function for very specific cases. If, on the other hand, other questions or problems related to the device arise, you already know that you can always rely on the Google Home app for iOS and Android. Here we can find several configuration settings of the smart speaker itself or the Google Assistant. And it is that configure a WiFi network, change the name of the device, equalize the sound and other settings oriented towards voice recognition and privacy, can be found here.
