In August 2022, it will again be quite noisy in Wacken. Thousands of heavy metal fans want to party there with stars like Judas Priest or Till Lindemann. However, most of the tickets are gone.
Wacken (dpa) – The next big heavy metal festival in Wacken in Schleswig-Holstein next year (4-6 August 2022) is already almost sold out.
More than 95% of fans have exchanged tickets for the festival, which was canceled this summer due to the corona pandemic, for a ticket for 2022, as organizers announced on Friday. The remainder of the total of 75,000 tickets will be drawn from a waiting list.
“As entries on our waiting list far exceed tickets still available, W: O: A 2022 is almost sold out,” said festival co-founder Thomas Jensen. His business partner Holger Huebner said: “We are more than touched by the support we have received from our fans over the past few months.”
In 2022, Judas Priest, Slipknot, Till Lindemann, Limp Bizkit, Hämatom and In Extremo, among others, want to play Wacken. Like the previous summer, the 31st edition of the festival will be canceled this summer due to the pandemic.
Replacing last summer’s online event, a smaller version of the festival will take place this year with “Bullhead City” (September 16-19). Appearances for Blind Guardian, Nightwish, and Powerwolf have been announced.
To date, over 10,000 cards have been sold for this. The organizers are initially forecasting 20,000 visitors per day. Visitors should be tested, vaccinated or picked up upon arrival. Alcohol should probably be allowed.
