HalloApp is a new application that comes from the hand of two of the creators of WhatsApp. It’s mostly about competing with both WhatsApp and Telegram and the rest of the messaging apps, with end-to-end encrypted chats and trying not to ask for more permissions from the account.
We are going to tell you what this alternative to WhatsApp offers, a service that has more than 2,000 million users and that does not seem to have much competition today, despite the variety and quality of the alternatives. Will HalloApp be able to resist it?
An ad-free app with few permissions
HalloApp is an application developed by two of the creators of WhatsApp. Unlike the app now owned by Facebook, HalloApp aims to be simple on the permissions level and integrate social media aspects to be more than just a messaging app. The app only asks us for permission for contacts, as well as media files in case we want to send them.
At the moment, HalloApp is a very simple application to chat and share content with our friends.
Chat functions, at the moment, are very limited, being able to send messages to our contacts, whether text or multimedia. At the moment, the voice notes feature, so popular in alternatives like WhatsApp or Telegram, is not implemented. We liked that at the interface level, Groups had their own section in the app, so they didn’t mix with the rest of the individual conversations.
One striking section is the starting one, which works the same as the feed of any social network. Here we can share messages and multimedia with our contacts, and they can comment on what we post. It’s a way of mixing messaging with a social network, of sharing what you want with your close entourage.
