The giant ice maker currently being installed at Mayflower Plaza on State Road in Manomet was first brought to the attention of the town when Balboni Realty Trust, the owner of that part of the plaza, filed plans in October 2014.
That’s according to Director of Inspectional Service Paul McAuliffe. The project received his approval because, he explained, the property is zoned for commercial use and the ice maker fits that criteria. The project did not require approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals, he said.
Even with the loss of several parking spaces, the location still has sufficient parking under town bylaws, which require most businesses to have one parking space per 200 square feet of floor area. Restaurants need one space for every three seats.
