Heidi Klum started the 17th season with her show – and thus reached a peak in the ratings.

Despite direct competition from RTL’s jungle camp, Heidi Klum’s model casting show “Germany’s Next Top Model” (“GNTM”) achieved the highest ratings in 13 years at the start of the season.

In the largest target group of private broadcasters, those aged 14-49, 20.4% watched on Thursday evenings. The last time the show achieved such good value was in 2009. However, if you look at total viewership, slightly fewer people sat in front of the TV this time: 2.06 million (7 .2%) watched the start of the 17th season. A year ago, it was 2.33 million.

Under the slogan of diversity, this year it’s not just contestants who weigh more than the average model or have scars on their bodies. Older women now also participate. For this season, Klum greeted two gray-haired contestants, 66 and 68, on the red carpet. Klum’s offensive: “We’re not all girls anymore. Should I just say models?” However, the model mom failed after a few minutes to achieve the goal she had set for herself: “It’s difficult for me,” she said after breaking up its resolution and spoke again of “girls” (phonetically “Meeeeedcheen”) and not of models.
