Who will win the Golden Lola race this year? There will be an answer to this question on October 1. The appointments have already been made.

Berlin (dpa) – The nominations for the German Film Award have been made. The literary film adaptation “Fabian or the Dog Walk” begins with ten suggestions.

The film by director Dominik Graf was nominated for best feature, as well as for direction and screenplay, as announced Thursday by the German Academy of Cinema in Berlin.

Another literary film adaptation came out of seven nominations – the “Schachnovelle” by director Philipp Stölzl. The film was also nominated as Best Feature for Golden Lola.

In total, six films were nominated in this category – in addition to the two book adaptations, there is the comedy “Ich bin dein Mensch”, the film “Curveball – We make the truth” and the political dramas “And tomorrow l “together world” and “I Am Karl.” This was announced by the director of the academy, Ulrich Matthes, and the Minister of State for Culture, Monika Grütters (CDU).

The film prize will be awarded on October 1 at the Berlin Exhibition Center. It is considered the most important national award in the industry. Last year, due to the pandemic, there was no big ceremony with many guests. The approximately 2,000 members of the Film Academy vote for numerous laureates.
