Berlin (dpa) – Maria Hofstätter and Eugene Boateng have received the German Actor Award 2021 for their lead roles in two feature films.

Previously, the Federal Drama Association in Berlin had already honored 77-year-old actress Cornelia Froboess (“When Conny with Peter”) with an honorary award for her life’s work.

Hofstätter (57) received an award for his role in the Austrian film “Fuchs im Bau”. She plays a teacher in a juvenile prison in Vienna, whose unconventional methods annoy the prison administration. Boateng (36) impresses in the German-Ghanaian production “Borga”. In the film, he plays a young Ghanaian who grows up in an electronic waste dump in Accra, the capital of Ghana, and becomes a smuggler for a better life in Germany.

Laura Tonke also received an award for a supporting role. She plays the wife of a suspect in the television production “Polizeiruf 110: Der Verfassungste”. Tristan Seith was convincingly in a supporting role as Economic Affairs Minister Peter Altmaier in “Die Grittenen”, a film about refugee policy in 2015. Katrin Wichmann (“Sörensen is afraid”) and Serkan Kaya (“KBV – No Special Incidents ”) were convincing in comedic roles. .

The awards have been presented annually in Berlin by the Federal Drama Association since 2012.
