Lucky Stiff the Musical Comedy
July 6 @ 7:00 pm - July 20 @ 7:00 pm
Americana Theatre Company (ATC), Plymouth’s professional theatre company, presents the musical comedy Lucky Stiff, directed by Brance Cornelius, from July 6 through 22, on Thursdays at 7 pm and Fridays and Saturdays at 7 pm at Spire Center for Performing Arts, 25 ½ Court Street, Plymouth. Lucky Stiff is by Tony® Award winning writing team Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, based on Michael Butterworth’s novel The Man Who Broke the Bank.
An offbeat murder mystery farce full of mistaken identities, Lucky Stiff boasts millions in diamonds and a wheelchair-bound corpse that leave audiences dying of laughter! The musical first premiered off-Broadway, and is the winner of the Richard Rodgers Award and Washington’s Helen Hayes Award for Best Musical. Unassuming English shoe salesman Harry Witherspoon is forced to take the embalmed body of his recently murdered uncle on vacation to Monte Carlo. Should he succeed in passing his uncle off as alive, he stands to inherit six million dollars! If he fails, the money gets handed off to the Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn – or else his uncle’s gun-toting ex! Lucky Stiff’s tuneful score, ensemble cast of zany characters and small rock combo orchestra charms audiences for a wild night at the theater.
An Opening Weekend Gala will be held immediately following the July 8 performance, all guests in attendance are welcome to enjoy the celebration and meet the cast.
The cast of Lucky Stiff includes Hannah-Jo Weisberg (Rita), Katie Johantgen (Annabel), Managing Director David Friday (Louigi), Artistic Director Jesse M. Sullivan (Harry Witherspoon), Founder Derek Martin (Vinnie), Courtney Rasor (PSM), and an ensemble including Director of Education Erin Friday, Brian Kennerson and Associate Artistic Director Jennifer Martin.
