Dance Evolution: Sleeping Beauty Meets West Side Story
April 1 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
Prepare to dance in your seat! Our program overflows with storied influences and irresistible melodies, including composer Arturo Márquez’ explosive Danzon No. 2, a modern Mexican classic inspired by Cuban dance rhythms. Joining the Phil are the talented members of South Shore Conservatory’s Bay Youth Symphony in a super-sized orchestra to perform music from the exuberant Ballet Music to Tchaikovsky’s, Sleeping Beauty. Phil music director and conductor, Steven Karidoyanes, conducts his own Greek-inspired composition, Café Neon, with Leonard Bernstein’s passionate score to West Side Story rounding out our evening. Our largest orchestral event of the season!
