Every five years, Kassel draws art lovers to the city. It will be this time again in 2022. The surface area of exhibitions spread throughout the city will then be even larger.

Kassel (dpa) – Documenta will be a richer place in 2022.

The supplier to the northern Hessian railway industry Hübner provides the world art exhibition with an area of approximately 7,500 square meters with production halls and outdoor space on its company premises in the district of Kassel in Bettenhausen for temporary use for the exhibition of the coming year.

“With this location, documenta fifteen can realize its vision of building a bridge over the Fulda to the industrial east of the city,” said Sabine Schormann, managing director of documenta und Museum Fridericianum gGmbH, on Thursday at the presentation official.

After a visit from the conservative collective Ruangrupa, it immediately emerged that documenta fifteen belonged here, she explained. “The Hübner Halls are fascinating contemporary witnesses to the development of the district which, with its multiple facets of urban development, resembles an open history book. Ruangrupa will include this aspect in his work. The area will be the largest location for the exhibition in 2022.

After documenta fifteen, the Kasseler Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (KVG) will develop the entire area of the Hübner group east of Kassel into a local transport location from autumn 2022. It has purchased the area of about 20,000 square meters.

The documenta takes place every five years in Kassel, next year from June 18 to September 25.
