Decision to change drivers doesn’t work out for alleged OUI suspect

Two people are under arrest, one for drunk driving, after allegedly flipping over a trailer in Manomet, Monday afternoon.

According to Lieutenant Dana Flynn, Thomas Major, 25, of Sullivan Avenue allegedly flipped the landscaping trailer his pickup truck was pulling when he attempted to turn onto that street from State Road. His passenger, a 22-year-old Dartmouth man, then took the wheel and drove further down the road, dragging the trailer, which was still on its side, Flynn alleged. That man, according to police records, does not have a driver’s license.

When police arrived, the two had reportedly stopped and righted the trailer, and Major had gotten back behind the wheel, Flynn said. Based on their investigation and interviews at the scene, Major was charged with drunk driving, disorderly conduct, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The Datmouth man was charged with disorderly conduct, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.
