Cuba recorded this Saturday 8,875 new cases of Covid-19, the second highest number of daily infections reported since the start of the pandemic, according to information from the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap). The country now has 384,596 cases and 2,758 deaths from covid-19, 65 of which were reported on Saturday (31).

With a population of 11.2 million, Cuba has an incidence rate of 1,023 patients per 100,000 inhabitants. In high-risk territories, including the capital Havana, the country is conducting a health intervention study with Abdala and Soberana 02, the two most advanced vaccines of the five developed by Cuba.
With 92.2% effectiveness in clinical trials, Abdala already has an authorization for emergency use. Soberana 02, in turn, is still waiting for the same clearance after showing 91.2% efficacy with a two-dose regimen of this formula and an additional dose of Soberana Plus, another of the compounds sought by Cuban scientists.
More than 3 million Cubans, out of a population of 11.2 million, have received at least one dose of these formulas in clinical trials and intervention studies conducted in parallel with health, according to official data. .
