What is CBT Cannabinoid?

CBT is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found in minute quantities within the cannabis plant. Since it has not been thoroughly studied, scientists are still working to understand its effects.

Despite its rarity, CBT is slowly gaining attention for its potential health benefits. In addition, it may be a key ingredient in enhancing the wellness benefits of other hemp compounds, especially CBD and CBG.

Cannabitriol

CBT cannabinoid is a new minor cannabinoid discovered in 2014 with a chemical structure similar to THC. However, it’s still very early to know whether CBT is psychoactive or has any health properties.

Since it occurs in very small quantities, further research must be done on its effects and health benefits. But unfortunately, it’s also not found in all cannabis plants, making it even more difficult to conduct studies.

Nevertheless, CBT is effective in treating glaucoma in rabbits, which could prove beneficial for human patients. Additionally, CBT has been shown to have strong anti-cancer properties against breast cancer cells.

The molecule is thought to inhibit the activity of butyrylcholinesterase, a substance responsible for synthesizing the neurotransmitter acetylcholine. It could be helpful in the treatment of neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s. It also works as a powerful antioxidant. These properties make CBT an essential cannabis arsenal for treating these conditions.

CBT’s Chemical Structure

CBT is a cannabinoid with a chemical structure similar to tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). It is formed within the sticky resins of a mature hemp flower.

While research on CBT is minimal, it appears to have some potential benefits for patients with fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions. It is believed to reduce catastrophizing and improve pain interference.

In a study of high-catastrophizing patients with FM, a treatment program consisting of four CBT sessions was associated with significant improvements in clinical outcome variables. Interestingly, the results showed that treatment-related changes in pain-related brain circuitry were correlated with reductions in catastrophizing and improvement in PCS scores.

The present study’s findings offer preliminary evidence that CBT treats FM patients with high levels of catastrophizing by reducing catastrophizing, improving pain interference, and resolving enhanced insula-S1 connection. It may help shape long-term improvements in pain-related outcomes, including reductions in fibromyalgia symptoms and hyperalgesia.

CBT’s Effects
