Chloé Zhao in the jury of the Venice Film Festival |

With her road movie “Nomadland”, she won three Oscars this year: director Chloé Zhao is also in Venice.

Venice (AP) – Director and Oscar winner this year Chloé Zhao (“Nomadland”) will be a member of the international jury for the 78th Venice Film Festival. This is what the organizers announced on Wednesday in the Italian lagoon city.

The ethnic Chinese will decide the prizes within the committee, including the Golden Lion for best film. Last year, Zhao won this award in Venice with his road movie.

The cinema biennial will take place from September 1 to 11. With Cannes and Berlin, the festival is one of the most important in the world. The jury is chaired by South Korean director Bong Joon-ho (“Parasite”). It had been known since the beginning of the year, now the festival organizers have announced the full lineup.

Zhao wrote the history of cinema with the American drama “Nomadland”. In addition to the Golden Lion in Venice, the work also received three Oscars – and Zhao was only the second woman in Oscar history to be honored for Best Director.
