A 62-year-old Cedarville man was arrested for allegedly robbing the Dollar Tree store in Manomet at gunpoint, late Thursday afternoon.
According to John Rogers, Timothy Sheehan, wearing a hoodie and sunglasses, allegedly entered the store and demanded the contents of the store’s cash register. After reportedly taking a small amount of cash, he drove off.
Police followed him south on State Road, Rogers said. At one point they tried to stop him near Hedges Pond Road, but he failed to stop and led police further down the road until he was stopped in the snow as he tried to get around another car, Rogers said.
The gun he allegedly used was a fake, a replica of a 9 millimeter handgun, Rogers said. Police did, however, find real ammunition in the trunk of his car.
Sheehan was charged with armed and masked robbery, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
He was ordered held on $25,000 bail, according to Wicked Local. His attorney told the judge that Sheehan was disabled and had fallen behind on his mortgage. He is also battling substance abuse, Wicked Local reports.
